Renowned as an Amazing Dark Sky area, this destination allows visitors to chase the Milky Way under the dark night skies, visible to the naked eye. It is open for exploration throughout the year, but the best time to experience the morning mist is during the winter months (October to February). The viewpoint at Doi Dam is located near the Mae Hong Son-Chiang Mai area, offering more than just breathtaking natural scenery. It is also home to remarkable local products, such as the world-class black caviar from the Royal Project and the unique fermented black soybean dish from the Tai Yai community. Additionally, this area has historical significance, as it was once a marching route for King Naresuan the Great, also known as the "Black King."
