The first branch of Thai hypermarkets, supermarkets, and convenience stores was opened under the name Lotus Supercenter in Seacon Square, Prawet District, Bangkok, on October 28, 1994, by the Charoen Pokphand Group. It was later renamed Tesco Lotus in 1998 after Tesco acquired the business. Currently, it operates under Siam Makro, once again part of the Charoen Pokphand Group, following Tesco's sale of the business in 2020.
