The archaeological site of Ban Kan Leung is located within the grounds of Wat Kan Leung in the Khammayai sub-district. Excavations were conducted by the Fine Arts Department in 1996, where numerous artifacts were discovered, including beads, pottery, bronze bells, iron axes, and large quantities of rice husks. However, no human skeletons were found. It is hypothesized that this ancient community dates back between 2,500 and 2,800 years, during the late metal age. Subsequently, a building was erected to cover the excavation site, and the surrounding landscape was landscaped to make it more suitable for visitors. An exhibition was also organized to provide informative insights into the archaeological evidence unearthed. Tourists and interested visitors can explore the site daily, free of charge. To reach the site from Thungsri Muang, take Highway 24 (Uprath Road) and then continue on Highway 212 (Chayangkhu Road) toward Amnat Charoen Province. At the Wanarom intersection, turn right onto Highway 231 toward the district of Trakan Phuet Phol. Continue straight for approximately 1.5 kilometers, and you will find Wat Kan Leung on the left side of the road, making the total distance from Thungsri Muang about 6.5 kilometers.
