Lam Nang Rong Dam

Non Din Daeng Subdistrict, Non Din Daeng District

Also known as the Lake of Northeast Isan Since 1977, the area of Non Din Daeng District, Lahan Sai District, Buriram Province, has faced significant setbacks in development due to the violent disruptions caused by insurgent groups. Intense fighting occurred in the region, accompanied by rampant looting along the Thailand-Cambodia border. As a result, local residents could not venture out to farm outside their villages. The severity of the situation forced many locals, who traditionally farmed across the area, to migrate to live in Non Din Daeng Village. This migration created severe problems related to overcrowding and distress. His Majesty the King became aware of this plight, and on October 11 and 31, 1978, He graciously summoned the Director-General of the Royal Irrigation Department to receive royal guidance on the development of the Lam Nang Rong Water Basin. He instructed the construction of the Lam Nang Rong Dam, the Kanong Manao Reservoir, the Lam Pha Tía Reservoir, and the Lam Chang Hán Reservoir, alongside the establishment of a water distribution system. Subsequently, a paved walkway was added atop the dam, which has now become a popular sightseeing spot in Non Din Daeng District. The atmosphere is beautiful, and the location is equipped with amenities and restaurants that prepare freshly caught fish. The stunning sandy beaches and pleasant environment make it a favored destination for residents of Buriram and nearby provinces, who often bring their families to relax and enjoy the water.
