Khao Pra-Bang Khram Wildlife Sanctuary

Klong Thom Nuea, Klong Thom

The highlight of this tourist attraction is the Tina Joliffe Nature Trail (Tuyet Tiao), named in honor of the late Tina Joliffe, an Englishwoman who pioneered the conservation of this lush rainforest to prevent its destruction. The trail spans 2.7 kilometers, and along the way, visitors can gain knowledge from informational signs that narrate various stories, particularly about the Black-bellied Pitta, a ground-dwelling bird that is increasingly difficult to find in Thailand and is classified as near threatened. In addition, more than 300 other bird species have been recorded here, surpassing the numbers found in other conservation areas in southern Thailand. Notably, over 100 species can be spotted along this nature trail, including the Spotted Dove, the Blue-winged Pitta, the Green Magpie, the Rusty-naped Pitta, various Sunbirds, and different species of squirrels. Getting there: The trail is located in Ban Tuyet Tiao, Klong Thom Nuea sub-district. Take the same route as the Klong Thom Hot Springs, via Highway 4038. Just before reaching Klong Thom Market, there is a turn-off to Ban Tuyet Tiao, which is 17 kilometers from the Klong Thom Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary offers accommodations and camping facilities for tourists, although visitors must bring their own tents. For more details, contact the Khao Pribangram Wildlife Sanctuary Office, Moo 2, Ban Tuyet Tiao, Klong Thom Nuea district, Krabi province.
