**The Marvel of a Human-Created Forest: Reviving Abandoned Shrimp Farms into Mangrove Forests** Between 1981 and 1996, the area around the Klong Khao - Klong Khoi National Reserved Forest in Pranburi was once a thriving shrimp farm. However, in 1996, during a royal visit to Pranburi National Park by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, they noticed that the lush forest in the area had vanished, overtaken entirely by shrimp farms. In response to the royal concern, the Forest Department acted on the royal initiative by revoking the shrimp farm concessions that same year. The area was subsequently incorporated into the Pak Nam Pranburi Forest Development Project, as per the royal directive, and designated as a site for the permanent reforestation project in honor of the King's 50th anniversary of reign. PTT Public Company Limited volunteered to join the efforts to restore this abandoned shrimp farming site, which has now transformed into a center for studying and learning about the mangrove ecosystem.
