The City Pillar Shrine and the Khun Pha Kood Pong Shrine are sacred sites that hold great reverence for the people in Mueang District. It is believed that these places are home to divine entities. The shrine has been beautifully restored since 1982, presenting a tidy and appealing appearance. The Khun Pha Kood Pong Shrine is located adjacent to the City Pillar Shrine, making it a regular stop for both tourists and locals who come to pay their respects. Inside the Khun Pha Kood Pong Shrine and the City Pillar Shrine, one can find numerous revered objects that the people of Loei province hold dear. Among these are various animal figurines, such as elephants and horses, along with other sacred items like the Phra Sangkhachai, which is believed to bring fortune and happiness, as well as various Buddha statues. Outside the Khun Pha Kood Pong Shrine, a pair of guardian lions stands watch over the entrance, in accordance with Chinese traditions. For those looking to visit, you can easily reach the shrine by private car from the clock tower roundabout, traveling about 150 meters down Sethsri Road, where the Khun Pha Kood Pong Shrine is located right next to the City Pillar Shrine. There is also a public park situated behind the shrine. Alternatively, you can take a yellow city bus from the bus station that circles the town, arriving at the park and then walking across the bridge to the Khun Pha Kood Pong Shrine.
