Wat Bang Bua Thong was established in the year 1792 (B.E. 2335). Initially, the local community referred to it simply as Wat Nai. Around 1857 (B.E. 2400), Phra Athikarn Sin collaborated with the villagers to renovate the temple and renamed it Wat Bang Bua Thong, a name that has persisted to this day. The temple complex features several buildings, including the main hall (ubosot), which was constructed in 1957 (B.E. 2500), and the sermon hall (sarachak), built in 1977 (B.E. 2520). The sermon hall is a two-story reinforced concrete structure in traditional Thai architecture. Additionally, there is a prayer hall completed in 1991 (B.E. 2534), and monks' residences consisting of both reinforced concrete and half wooden, half concrete structures. A multipurpose hall was built in 2006 (B.E. 2549), along with a merit-making pavilion. Significant sacred objects include the main Buddha statue in the ubosot in the posture of Vanquishing Mara, completed in 1957 (B.E. 2500), and another Buddha statue in the sermon hall in the same pose, which was created in 1992 (B.E. 2535).
