Wat Tha Mai I was established approximately 500 years ago. It is believed that the temple's name is derived from "Phra Nang Manee Chan," the consort of King Naresuan, who once used the alias "Mae I" for safety reasons. This name eventually transformed into "Wat Tha I" and has evolved into "Wat Tha Mai I" as we know it today. The temple grounds are beautifully organized into four interconnected garden zones. These include a Buddhist-themed area, a rice field with bamboo bridges symbolizing merit-making, a garden featuring clay figurines, and a contemporary garden. These thoughtfully designed spaces are meant to evoke smiles and joy for visitors who come to make merit and pay their respects.
