Even if you haven’t studied medicine, if you’re curious about the journey of human life from birth to death, the Siriraj Medical Museum offers an in-depth exploration, including actual internal body parts. This institution is the first medical school in Thailand and features various museums, such as the Ellis Pathology Museum, which includes simulation rooms and a showcase of the functioning of healthy and diseased hearts, the development and congenital disabilities of infants, and various types of cancers that commonly affect men and women, alongside treatment and prevention methods presented with real objects and models. For the bold-hearted, a visit to the Songkran Niymasen Forensic Museum is a must. It exhibits human organs from natural and unnatural deaths, displays different types of drugs, and evidence from various criminal cases, such as murder, suicide, and accidents. Among the exhibits are numerous skulls resulting from shooting experiments aimed at studying the trajectory of wounds at different stages, as well as the tools used to examine the remains of His Majesty King Rama VIII. Additionally, it displays various corpses, like the famous "Siu," preserved bodies, and clothing related to the infamous Nualchawi case. If you are interested in human evolution, the Prehistoric Museum and the Sootsangwichien Laboratory has a collection showcasing the evolutionary charts of primates over the last 70 million years. There are also exhibits at the Parasitology Museum, Traditional Thai Medicine Museum, and the Kongdon Anatomy Museum for further exploration of the human body. Location: Adulyadej Vikrom Building, 2nd Floor, Siriraj Hospital, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Road, Thonburi side. Open Monday, Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (closed on Tuesdays and public holidays). Admission fees are 80 baht for Thai citizens, 25 baht for children, and 200 baht for foreigners (students in uniform are free). For more information, call 0 2419 7000 ext. 96363.
