Chiang Dao Cave

Chiang Mai, Chiang Dao

Chiang Dao Cave was established in 1767 and is also known as Wat Tham Luang Chiang Dao. The construction began under the guidance of Phra Khru Ba Prathum Panja and Phor Saen Pi. In 1887, Phra Ya Inta Piban constructed the staircase leading to the cave entrance, along with other structures and artistic elements. In 1913, a hermit named Kanthama commissioned the creation of a Buddha statue. By 1934, Kru Ba Sriwichai undertook further construction and restoration of the site. Additionally, in more recent years, further expansion and renovations have continued, reaching into the present day. The temple was granted the title of Visongkham Si Ma on June 23, 1971.
