In the past, the Dragon Jar Trade Market, renowned for its products from Ratchaburi Province, was located along Woradech Road, adjacent to the Mae Klong River. This market facilitated the easy transportation of goods to various provinces across the country, as evidenced by the remnants of old piers along the riverbank. However, with the advancement of land transportation, the vibrant atmosphere of this riverside market gradually faded away. To promote economic growth and tourism, the Ratchaburi municipal government conceived the idea of establishing a "Walking Street Market" to commemorate the historical significance of this area. This initiative was launched under the name "Old Koy Gee Market" (where "Koy" translates to canal and "Gee" means riverside), with its first operation taking place on April 24, 2009.
