This temple is ancient and shrouded in mystery, as no one has been able to determine its name, who built it, or during which period. It is believed that the temple is over 400 years old. It was during the reign of King Rama IV, King Pinklao, that the temple was reestablished in its original location between the years 1851 and 1856. Currently, Phra Thep Pariyattikhet, the abbot of Kamphaeng Phet Province, oversees the temple. The structure of the Kuyang temple's hall of scriptures is a local Thai-style building typical of Kamphaeng Phet, constructed from wood, with a tile roof and elevated over a foundation that is 6 meters wide and 12 meters long. It stands in the middle of the original moat. Inside, the hall features an open space supported by three round pillars on each side. The central roof is gabled, adorned with ornamental eaves shaped like a swan, exquisitely crafted from plaster, decorating both sides of the gable. The wings of the roof extend over all four sides of the walls, which are patterned with traditional wooden paneling. The side walls have four windows each, while the front and back walls have a door each and two windows on each side. There are also porches (areas with a roof supported by columns) at both the front and back, with steps—three in total—leading up to the hall from both ends. The front porch has a protruding balcony in the center that ladders seven steps down to reach the ground. In addition to being a site of historical significance, the Koyang hall of scriptures serves as a center for the dissemination of Buddhism, a place for learning the teachings of the Buddha for monks, novices, and the general public. It also serves as an examination hall for Pali studies in the province and is a hub for the administration of the monastic community in Kamphaeng Phet today.
