Located in Wat Pa Sutthawasa, opposite the government office center of the province, the museum features a unique blend of modern architecture constructed from clay tiles. Inside the museum, there is a statue of Phra Ajarn Mun in meditation posture, alongside a glass case containing the relics of the revered teacher that have transformed into clear white crystal. The display is elevated on a marble-tiled base and includes cabinets showcasing the monk's personal belongings and a detailed history of his life, from birth to passing. Phra Ajarn Mun was born into the Kaengkiew family in the township of Khong Chiam, Ubon Ratchathani Province. He became a novice monk at the age of 15 and was fully ordained at 22 at Wat Liab in Ubon Ratchathani. He was a devoted practitioner of ascetic meditation, and many other monks from his lineage practiced and trained in vipassana meditation according to his teachings, including Luang Pu Fan Ajiro and Luang Pu Khao Alnayo, among others. Later, Phra Ajarn Mun moved from hermit practice to reside at Wat Pa Sutthawasa, where he passed away on November 11, 1949. The temple grounds are serene, adorned with large trees, and the beautiful ubosot (ordination hall) stands out prominently. This ubosot was once the dwelling where Phra Ajarn Mun, Phuritattara, passed away and served as the site for his cremation ceremony. Inside the ubosot, there is an important Buddha statue, and this venue is utilized for various religious ceremonies, making it a significant and beautiful site. Additionally, there is the Luang Pu Lui Jantasaro Museum, situated within Wat Pa Sutthawasa, which was established to house the relics of Luang Pu Lui (1941-1989), a senior monk in the vipassana lineage and a disciple of Phra Ajarn Mun. Luang Pu Lui was a dedicated practitioner who traveled extensively throughout his life. Following his passing and cremation, His Majesty the King graciously proclaimed, "A stupa should be constructed at Wat Pa Sutthawasa in Sakon Nakhon Province, where the relics of Phra Ajarn Mun are, so that they may be together." His Majesty personally designed the stupa. To reach the site, head along Sukkasem Road until you reach the provincial government office center, then take the left turn and proceed for about 250 meters.
